Video, audio and animation
How to add a YouTube video, your own video file, a Lottie animation or a brand sound to the manual, and which section to use for it.
Which section to choose
| Section | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Video & Animation | One or more videos or animations – small previews side by side or large ones stacked, with text under each. |
| Video & Animation (multifunctional) | A single video with buttons (asset download, link to a page) and expandable content. |
| Audio | A jingle, sonic logo or voice sample – MP3 or WAV in its own player. |
| Embedded content | Videos from Vimeo, Loom and other services that Video & Animation does not support. |
YouTube, video file or Lottie
For each item in Video & Animation (including the multifunctional variant), you choose a Content type:
- YouTube – paste the video link, for example
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=…. YouTube Shorts links work too. The video is not uploaded to the manual, so it uses no storage. - Custom video file – upload MP4, MOV, AVI or WMV. MP4 is recommended because every browser plays it. Autoplay starts the video muted when the page loads; Loop plays it over and over.
- Lottie animation – upload an animation in
.lottieformat. Well suited to an animated logo or icons: it stays sharp at any size and is usually smaller than a video.
Video and storage space
Your own video files count towards the manual’s storage capacity, which depends on the edition. Longer videos, such as a recording of a brand presentation, are better uploaded to YouTube and embedded by link. Files and storage shows how much space is left.
The Audio section
In the Audio section, add one or more tracks under Audio files. Each track has an Item title, an Audio file (MP3 or WAV), a Description and an Allow download option – when it is on, a download button appears next to the player. The Audio section is not available on Colors pages.
Lottie animations outside sections
You can also use a Lottie animation outside sections – as a page card preview on the manual’s home page, or as the font preview in a Font section. See Home page cards.
Questions and answers
Why doesn’t the video autoplay with sound?
Browsers block autoplay with sound, so Visualbook starts videos with Autoplay muted. Visitors can turn the sound on in the player.
Can I embed a Vimeo video?
Not in Video & Animation, which accepts YouTube links only. For Vimeo, use Embedded content – see Embeds and custom tools.
