Custom domain

The manual can run at your company’s address, such as brandmanual.company.com. Visualbook support connects it on the server – you, or whoever manages your domain, only add a DNS record.

What you will have

The manual opens at https://brandmanual.company.com and the original yourbrand.visualbook.pro address redirects to it.

Steps

  1. Choose a subdomain

Pick a subdomain of your company domain, for example brandmanual.company.com or brand.company.com. The main domain company.com usually belongs to your corporate website, so the manual needs a subdomain of its own. Custom subdomains are available in Designer, Studio and Company.

  2. Contact support

Send support the current manual address and the subdomain the manual should run on. You do not set the domain in the panel – Visualbook connects it on the server. Support replies with the DNS record to add.

  3. Add the DNS record

Whoever manages your domain – usually IT or an agency – adds the record at your domain registrar. Enter the value exactly as support sent it. DNS changes spread gradually, so allow several hours.

  4. Let support know

Once the record is saved, tell support. Visualbook then attaches the domain to the manual, enables HTTPS for it and sets up the redirect from the original address.

How to tell it worked

Open https://brandmanual.company.com in a private browser window. The manual loads and the browser shows a secure connection. Then open the original https://yourbrand.visualbook.pro – it redirects you to the new address.

What changes after the switch

  • The panel runs at the new address, for example https://brandmanual.company.com/panel. Editors sign in again there.
  • The AI connector, llms.txt and the sitemap move to the new address. Update the address in connected AI tools; some will ask you to sign in again.
  • The original yourbrand.visualbook.pro address redirects to the new one, so links in older emails and documents keep working.
  • Content, users, passwords and statistics stay as they are.

Problems and special cases

The new address still does not open after several hours. Ask whoever manages your domain to check that the record has exactly the value support sent and sits on the right subdomain. Then contact support.

You want to polish the content first. Keep the manual on yourbrand.visualbook.pro and switch the domain once it is ready, so visitors to the company address never see work in progress. Until then you can lock the manual.

You want to run the manual on your own hosting. That is a different case from a custom domain – use the online static export and upload it to the root of your own domain or subdomain.

Questions and answers

Does a custom domain cost extra?

Pointing a custom subdomain at the manual is included in every edition. You keep paying your registrar for the domain itself, as before.

Can the manual run directly on company.com without a subdomain?

Visualbook is set up for a subdomain. If you need something else, talk to support first.
