Which edition applies depends primarily on who the Visualbook is invoiced to. If you build the manual for your client’s brand, it’s DESIGNER when you’re a freelancer and STUDIO when you’re an agency. If a company builds a manual for its own brand, it’s always COMPANY.
No — the number of editors doesn’t determine the edition. DESIGNER is a licence for a designer who delivers the manual to a client as their own work. The designer is the owner of that Visualbook. When a company builds a manual for its own brand, the COMPANY edition applies even if only one person ever works in it. That Visualbook is owned by the company. Extra editors can be bought separately at any time.
We invoice whoever owns the manual. If the client pays us directly — the company whose brand the manual describes — it’s the COMPANY edition. DESIGNER and STUDIO apply when we invoice you and you re-bill the manual to your client.
The price reflects the scale at which the manual will be used. The more people work with the brand every day, the more value a single, well-maintained place for its rules delivers. Above a certain organisation size the licensing terms of the technology Visualbook is built on also change, and that difference is reflected in the price.
Yes, from the moment you pay. One click in the admin panel gives you a static export of the whole project — a working copy of the site, independent of Visualbook, that you can upload to any ordinary web server. Pages, texts, images, documents, navigation and links keep working. The export carries no admin panel, but the content isn’t locked: a developer can edit the files the usual way, and today an AI agent handles it easily too.
You get the complete working project, not just your data — including the admin panel, logins and full editing. You upload it to your own server and it runs exactly as you’re used to, and the licences needed to run it transfer to your domain at no new cost to you.
