Page order and visibility
Visualbook pages are public as soon as they are created – there is no publish switch. Here is how to set the order of pages and how to keep a page out of the navigation, out of search or away from visitors without access.
A page is public as soon as it exists
A new page is available at its address right after you create it, for example yourbrand.visualbook.pro/tone-of-voice, and the manual’s search finds it. Visitors won’t see it on the home page, in the sidebar or in a group until you give it a card.
Content edits reach the manual only after you click Save. Until then only you see them in the panel.
Cards set the order
The order on the home page is the card order in Overview → Main page cards. Inside a group, it is the order on the Cards on the page tab. You reorder cards by dragging. The sidebar navigation follows the same order.
The Pages list in Overview → Content is just an overview for you: it is sorted by type and title and can’t be reordered by dragging. It doesn’t affect the order in the manual.
Ways to hide a page
| Method | What happens | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Remove the card | The page disappears from the home page and navigation. Its address and search still work. | Overview → Main page cards |
| Hide from search | The manual’s search won’t offer the page. | On the page, right column: Hide page from Visualbook search → Yes |
| Don’t index | The page won’t appear in Google or other search engines. | Settings → Page indexing → Do not index these pages |
| Lock | Only people with the password or an allowed email domain see the content. | The page’s Password tab – see Lock a single page |
| Delete | The page is gone for good. Deletion can’t be undone. | See Delete a page |
Prepare a page you don’t want to show yet
Working on a new page that visitors shouldn’t find yet? Do this:
- Create the page and don’t give it a card yet.
- Turn on Hide page from Visualbook search, or lock the page with a password.
- When it’s ready, turn hiding off (or unlock the page) and give it a card on the home page or in a group.
