Connect Claude, ChatGPT and others

Paste the manual address ending in /mcp into your AI tool and sign in with your panel account. You do not copy any API keys or tokens.

What you will have

The agent in your AI tool sees the manual’s pages and works in them when you ask.

Steps

  1. Check that sign-in is on

Sign-in through the AI connector is off by default; Visualbook technical support turns it on. In the panel, open Your account and look at the MCP connectors (read and write) section. If it says “MCP sign-in is turned off”, contact support and continue once it is on.

  2. Copy the connector address

It is the manual address ending in /mcp, for example https://yourbrand.visualbook.pro/mcp. Instructions with the address filled in for each tool are in the panel under Your account, in the MCP connectors section, under How to connect an app.

  3. Add the connector to your AI tool

The steps differ by tool – find them below under your tool’s name. Most tools need only a connector name and the address.

  4. Ask the agent to connect

Tell the agent “Connect to Visualbook”. The sign-in window does not open every time the tool starts; it appears only when you ask to connect. ChatGPT is the exception – it opens the sign-in right after you create the connector.

  5. Sign in with your panel account

In the browser, enter the email of your Visualbook account and click Email me a login code. Enter the code from the email in the Login code field. If you have a password, you can choose Sign in with a password instead.

  6. Allow access

On the Allow access? screen, Read content is always on. Edit content (write via MCP) is on by default – leave it on if the agent should also work in the manual, otherwise turn it off. Confirm with Allow and return to your AI tool.

How to tell it worked

Ask the agent “List the manual’s pages” – it returns the list. In the panel, under Your account, the app appears in MCP connectors (read and write) with a Last used date. A read-only connection is labelled as such.

Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)

Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste the …/mcp address. The connector then also works in the Claude mobile apps.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings → Plugins (formerly Apps & Connectors).
  2. Turn on Developer mode.
  3. Click + or Create.
  4. Paste the …/mcp address and choose OAuth as the authentication.

Claude Code

Run this in the terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http visualbook https://yourbrand.visualbook.pro/mcp

Check the connection status in Claude Code with /mcp.

Cursor

Add the connector to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (a single project):

{"mcpServers": {"visualbook": {"url": "https://yourbrand.visualbook.pro/mcp"}}}

VS Code

Add the connector to .vscode/mcp.json in the project root:

{"servers": {"visualbook": {"type": "http", "url": "https://yourbrand.visualbook.pro/mcp"}}}

The Visualbook tools then appear in Copilot Chat in Agent mode.

Codex

Add the connector in the terminal:

codex mcp add visualbook --url https://yourbrand.visualbook.pro/mcp

Then sign in with codex mcp login visualbook. Instead of the command, you can also add the connector to ~/.codex/config.toml.

Gemini CLI

Run this in the terminal:

gemini mcp add --transport http -s user visualbook https://yourbrand.visualbook.pro/mcp

Instead of the command, you can also add the connector to ~/.gemini/settings.json.

Another tool with MCP support

Add the …/mcp address as the tool’s own instructions describe. A tool that can only use a local server connects with:

npx -y mcp-remote https://yourbrand.visualbook.pro/mcp

The command requires Node.js.

Public read-only connector

When colleagues, agencies or suppliers without a panel account should ask about brand rules, turn on the public connector:

  1. In the panel, open Settings and the MCP tab.
  2. Set Enable public MCP server? to Yes and save.
  3. On the same tab, copy the address https://yourbrand.visualbook.pro/mcp/public and the configuration for each tool.

The public connector needs no sign-in – in claude.ai leave the OAuth fields empty; in ChatGPT choose No authentication.

A card with connection instructions appears on the manual’s home page. If you do not want it there, turn on Hide the MCP connection card on the homepage – the connector keeps running.

In a multibrand manual, use the connector scope selector to choose all brands or a single sub-brand. A single-brand connector has the address …/mcp/public/brand-name and reads only that brand.

Several Visualbooks in one tool

Managing several separate Visualbooks? Add each one as a separate connector under its own name, for example acme and nordhook. Never change an existing connector’s address to a different manual.

Then name the manual by its address in your prompt: “In the Visualbook at acme.visualbook.pro, edit the Colors page…” The agent must state the manual address with every write. If it does not match, Visualbook rejects the write.

If the connection does not work

The sign-in window says “MCP sign-in is turned off on this Visualbook”. Technical support turns sign-in on. Contact support.

ChatGPT shows “Missing OAuth callback data” after you allow access. Consent must happen in the same browser where you started the connection. Try again there.

You clicked “Deny” or “Not now – stop asking”. The window does not come back on its own. When you are ready, ask the agent to connect again.

The agent says it cannot write. Edit content was not allowed at sign-in, or your account lacks the permission. In MCP connectors, click Revoke next to the app and connect again with editing turned on.

Cursor or VS Code never asks you to sign in. Ask the agent to connect to Visualbook. In Cursor you can also start sign-in under Settings → MCP via Needs login.

You have an older configuration with an `Authorization: Bearer vbmcp_…` header. Personal tokens no longer work. Remove the header and connect by signing in.
