Several editors at the same time

When several people work in the panel at once, Visualbook makes sure of two things: editors cannot overwrite each other's unsaved changes on the same page, and changes to the manual's structure run one at a time.

A page being edited is locked for others

When a colleague changes something on a page and has not saved it yet, you see “Unsaved changes by jane@company.com” on the page. The form is disabled for you with “This content is disabled for you as it is currently edited by another user”, so you cannot overwrite their work by accident.

Wait until your colleague saves or discards the changes, then carry on.

How to unlock a page being edited

If a colleague left a page mid-edit and cannot be reached, click Unlock. The panel asks “Unlock and overwrite unsaved changes by …”. Once you confirm, you can edit the page and their unsaved changes are overwritten.

Only someone allowed to edit the page can unlock it. A Multibrand editor can therefore do this only within their brands.

Structure changes run one after another

Visualbook applies these structure changes across the whole manual in sequence, one at a time:

  • creating and deleting a page or section,
  • reordering and moving,
  • showing and hiding a section or logo,
  • changing a page's address.

If two people change the structure at the same moment, the second change waits briefly until the first one finishes. Deleting and reordering renumbers neighboring pages, so simultaneous changes could scramble the order or create two pages with the same address. Saving texts and fields is not held up by this lock.

Tips for working as a team

  • Bulk deleting or moving can take a moment longer if a colleague is working at the same time. Do not click repeatedly; wait for it to finish.
  • Agree on who changes the structure – order, groups and addresses. Everyone can edit texts at the same time, each on their own page.
  • Save your changes regularly with Save so they do not block colleagues unnecessarily.
