On-site editing

Fix text, colors, links and images right on the manual page where you see them – no hunting through the panel. You only need to be signed in.

Steps

  1. Sign in to the panel

On-site editing only appears for a signed-in user who is allowed to edit the page. Sign in in the same browser you’ll use to browse the manual. The on-site editor is turned off on phones and tablets – use a computer.

  2. Open a manual page

In the panel, click View page (on Overview, View Visualbook), or browse the manual as a visitor would.

  3. Switch the section to edit mode

Hover over the section you want to change. An icon labelled Edit appears – click it. Next to it is Open in panel, which opens the same section in the panel.

  4. Edit the content

    • Text and headings: type straight into the page. Formatted text has a toolbar with bold, headings, lists, links and inserting an image or file.
    • Links: in the Insert link window you pick a manual page, a URL or an email.
    • Colors: type a HEX code such as #E30613, or pick a shade with the color picker.
    • Images: with Change image, choose an existing file or drag in a new one to upload it.
  5. Save your changes

Click Save below the section or press Cmd+S (Ctrl+S). A brief Saved! message confirms it. Cancel or the Esc key discards your edits and restores the section.

How to tell it worked

Reload the page – the change stays. If the panel is open in another tab, it reloads by itself after you save. Visitors see the new version straight away.

What if the Edit icon is missing

The most common causes:

  • You aren’t signed in – for example you signed in using a different browser, or the panel signed you out in the meantime.
  • You are viewing the manual on a phone or tablet.
  • Your role has no access to this page – a Multibrand editor only edits the brands an Admin assigned to them.
  • You are looking at a static export of the manual – it doesn’t include the editor.

Editing a manual in two languages

An edit is saved to the language version you currently have open on the website. To fix the other language, switch the manual to it and edit the section again. See Manual languages.
